This past summer we were doing our usual, chatting by the fire & listening to music with huge glasses of wine while the dogs chased each other and swam in the pond when Morgan goes “Oh Tor, we have a date! It’s October 26th.”… “This coming October 26th?” I responded. “Yup”… “Well than we have some planning to do!”
I’ve known Kyle for a while now through my husband but I had just recently met Morgan not even a year before this conversation. We instantly hit it off and at the time they were living in Portland, Oregon and had been visiting Maine when we were introduced… I remember as they left telling my husband “Man, I really wish they’d move back to Maine, it would be so much fun to have them back home to hang out with.” Well, wish granted! They moved back to Maine shortly after their visit and the next thing we knew we were helping them planning their wedding.
It might sound ridiculous, but my heart has been so flighty & singing ever since Morgan told me her wedding date. I just knew it was going to be a good time and I couldn’t wait for their wedding weekend. The weekend surely didn’t disappoint, we spent Thursday – Sunday down on the coast of Harpswell where we rented out huge houses, stayed up all hours of the night dancing & singing, getting to know their friends that had travelled from all over the country, and vegging out during the day (besides for their wedding day of course!).
Come Friday morning, the day of their wedding, when I was getting ready I couldn’t help but laugh that Morgan was about to become “My Bride”, “My Client”, and I couldn’t have felt more honored to have taken this roll of capturing their wedding day. It felt so different getting ready with everyone, spending time with all of our friends & their families, and just being a part of the entire weekend AND being the photographer. I felt more connected to what was going on and as I fluffed the train of Morgan’s dress to start taking the Bridal Portraits before their First Look I instantly got a lump in my throat. I don’t think Morgan noticed but it took me a few minutes of talking through my crackled voice to regain normalcy again.
Anyway, their First Look was gorgeous on Giant Stairs and they barely needed to do anything to make the photos look amazing, just scroll down and see for yourself! Their ceremony was so sweet in Library Hall and led by Morgan’s cousin’s wife & close friend Emma, who did an amazing job customizing the ceremony completely to them and after exchanging vows, saying I do, and Kyle carrying Morgan off stage it was time to start celebrating!
Kyle + Morgan, we couldn’t be happier for you! Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your amazing wedding weekend – we’re excited to see what the future holds for you!
Scroll down to see their amazing day!
Congratulations Morgan + Kyle, thank you so much for having me document this day for you!
