How do we begin to write this post? How do we choose our favorites? Right now, we have about 400 favorites to share on Malerie and Joe’s blog and Victoria says I have to narrow it down. Really, how?? There are so many ways to describe this wedding.. Elegant, dreamy and simply beautiful. Victoria and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding to start our season. Nestled in the woods of Keswick, Virginia off a dirt road you will find Castle Hill Cider. A beautiful, white barn with white fencing surrounding the property and cherry blossoms in full bloom. LOVE!! I think Victoria and I stood in front of the barn for about 5 minutes just staring at it in awe, it couldn’t have been any more perfect for Malerie & Joe’s big day.
So…let’s rewind several years back.
Before I (Molly) moved to Maine, I lived in Chesapeake, Virginia. After moving from my parents, I moved to Chesapeake and my very first friend there was Malerie. We would spend many evenings riding bikes, going for walks and just hanging out. After I moved to Maine, we continued to stay in contact. When I heard the news she had met the LOVE of her life and they were engaged, I wanted to be there for my friend. So this past week, Victoria and I loaded up the car and headed to Charlottesville, Virginia to celebrate Malerie and Joe. Of course, the weather for their big day was unacceptable with 100% rain storms all day, but it made us that much more stronger by having to think outside the box to get all the pictures we wanted for this beautiful couple.
We started the day visiting Joe and his Dad while they got ready, and let’s just say–Joe is a natural in front of the camera. We then headed to the bridal suite where we found the girls enjoying this time with one another, getting the final touches of hair and makeup and preparing to leave for the venue. We then headed to the venue where Malerie got ready with her Mother, soon to be Mother-N-Law and all of your beautiful bridesmaids before sharing a first look with her dad….cue the tears. Malerie was stunning in her dress and we knew Joe would LOVE it!
So what do you vision when you think of a first look with the Bride & Groom? Well let me tell you, we got the best one ever. I mean…Joe is so smitten with Malerie and it showed. Hands to the head, biggest smile ever and not sure what to do with himself. I couldn’t contain my excitement for them. I was smiling so much, my face started to hurt. Wait till you see the pictures. If you’re a soon to be groom and you are reading this…take notes. 🙂
The ceremony was filled with laughter and tears of happiness. They shared beautiful vows, planting of a tree, a couple “I reckons” and a kiss. It was simply beautiful!
After the ceremony we dodged the rain, but got a few photos of Malerie and Joe with the cherry blossoms and some fun photos of their shoes. No one could tell she had rain boots on under her dress.
What would be my favorite parts of the reception? Joe’s Grandmother telling everyone she wasn’t getting any younger and wanted some grand babies . Malerie’s dad performing two songs on guitar for his daughter and finally my first time witnessing a Hora. This reception was so much fun and we ended it with a sparkler exit before calling it a night and stuffing our faces at the dessert table. 🙂
Thank you Malerie and Joe from the bottom of my heart for having us be a part of your special day. It was beautiful and we hope that you LOVE the sneak peeks as much as we do.
